Affordable Christmas is a community event to give local families the opportunity to provide Christmas gifts for their children in a way that preserves dignity and promotes empowerment.

Every year families in need, from vetted community partners in Homestead, are invited to come be a part of an Affordable Christmas store hosted by Core Community Church.  We understand that there are times when life can be really hard and when Christmas rolls around during a difficult season in life it can add hardship not joy.  We want to partner with you in being able to provide gifts for children in need this year.

This is how it works:  those of us in our community who are able to give brand new toys or funds towards this event donate them, then volunteers set up a beautiful store for families in need to come December 16th and shop.  They will be able to shop for each child in their household between the ages of 2 and 12 and all they will bring is $10 per child.  That $10 will buy them three gifts per child, and that $10 we collect will be donated to an orphanage in Haiti Core Community Church partners with.  They will personally select these gifts from the store we have created for them and then volunteers will wrap the gifts for them, and the parent will place a tag on each one, proudly stating “From Mom/Dad.”  This is done so the parents/guardians are empowered and helped to be the providers of their home as they purchase gifts with dignity for their children.

We want these families to know that they are not alone during this Christmas season.  We are inviting you to be a part of helping them.  We all need help at some point in our lives and we who have something to share are glad to offer our help for those who need it this Christmas season.  You can donate here or purchase a new toy and place it in one of our drop boxes at one of our services.

Merry Christmas from a Homestead that cares!
