Hurricane Irma came through South Florida on Sunday, September 10th leaving a trail of devastation across the area that will take months or years to recover from. This forced millions to evacuate, left many homes without power, damaged properties, threatened local businesses, and increased stress and spiritual and emotional pains in everyone across the area.

Thankfully, God has placed local churches throughout South Florida to help each other and serve the community in both word and deed. We are a tough community, and we are in this together. And we believe God is bigger than the storm! Here at Core Community Church, we will do all we can to serve this community to see it restored and thriving again! For that to happen, we need your help.

At Core Community Church, we anticipate spending countless hours and thousands and thousands of dollars to help in this recovery process. Would you or your church consider Helping South Florida as a priority for the coming months? We can’t do this alone.

You can Help South Florida right now in 2 ways:

1 – PRAY. God hears the prayers and cries of His people. The compassion you feel in your heart for those of us impacted by this storm is God’s invitation to you to pray to Him on our behalf. In Nehemiah 1, when he got word that a city was in trouble, he sat down and wept and mourned and prayed and fasted before the Lord. Your concerns and prayers are needed. Pray for the families, the children, the elderly, pastors and local leaders, the emergency response teams, recovery for local businesses, and for local churches and non-profits on the ground offering love, care, hope, and the good news of the gospel.

2 – SERVE. We will be helping our neighbors in Big Pine Key each Saturday in October. We will be helping by providing manual labor for people to clear debris in and from around their homes. If you would like to be part of helping any Saturday please fill out your contact information and we will be in touch.

2 – GIVE. It’s going to take a lot of money in this recovery process. While there are many good national organizations to give to, giving to local churches we believe is the most strategic long term thing you can do. Local churches are most connected to the personal needs of people in the community, and local churches will be here long after response teams have left. Benevolence needs will go up, opportunities to serve under-resourced communities will go up, and local resources will need the support of outside resources for months to come. In an area that is already expensive to live in, local families are seeing their resources depleted with the unexpected costs of evacuations (hotels, gas, food), covering deductibles on properties, and the various clean up and recovery needs that have yet to be discovered.

All donations will be tax deductible, and will go towards the care and recovery needs for individuals, families, and local churches in the South Florida area. Your giving will help us better be able to give to others across South Florida.
